2023: Have mercy and give APC another chance — Buhari’s adviser begs Nigerians

Moremi Ojodu, daughter of Babafemi Ojudu, the special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on political matters, has urged Nigerians to have mercy on the All Progressives Congress leadership and the deplorable state of the nation.

“Without being partisan, I’m not really confident. I know if we run a popular vote or a popular opinion poll, Nigerians are not really satisfied with what we have done,” Ms Ojodu said this on Monday during Channels TV’s ‘Rubbin’ Minds‘ on Monday when asked whether the APC would have any trouble garnering votes from the electorate despite the poor state of affairs in the nation. “However, we can only plead and appeal to them to please have mercy and give us another chance.”

Ms Ojodu is considered a vocal critic of Mr Buhari’s regime. In 2017, She joined hundreds of protesters who raised their voices and placards against Mr Buhari’s regime, demanding the change APC promised.

Under Mr Buhari’s regime, Nigeria has suffered multiple sectoral failures evident in the constant devaluation of the national currency.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, led by Godwin Emefiele, has imposed multiple questionable fiscal and monetary policies, including restricting the amount of foreign currency used by Nigerians to the all-out ban of foreign exchange transactions through Bureau de Changes.

The protection of fundamental rights and the civic space has shrunk as the regime continues to intimidate media and civil society organisations.

On Monday, The Gazette was a victim of the Buhari-led regime’s intimidation when agents of the National Intelligence Agency stormed the head office of Peoples Gazette in Abuja.

Similarly, the office of CISLAC, a non-governmental organisation, was raided by security agents last year, sparking concern from the civic society over their safety.
