David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi State, has stated that he will not apologize to Ndigbo for declaring his support for Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate.
Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, is running with Kashim Shettima on a Muslim-Muslim ticket, which is opposed by the country’s Christian communities.
Keep in mind that Umahi switched sides from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) due to the PDP’s persistent marginalization of the South-East geopolitical zone, particularly by denying Ndigbo the opportunity to produce an Igbo-derived president.
According to the Daily Post, Umahi made this public during a town hall meeting involving all traditional rulers, political leaders, and elders council of the State with the presidential candidate of the APC, Tinubu, at the new government house, centenary City Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State. He said he has no apologies for declaring support for Tinubu-Shettima.
The governor emphasized that he does not regret joining the APC and declaring his support for Tinubu-Shettima’s presidential ambition.
He claimed that:The APC is present everywhere in Ebonyi State.Bola Tinubu, we are only obedient to you.We are not sorry.I’m speaking in any way because I’m standing on our accomplishments in Ebonyi State.
“Anyone who wishes to challenge us ought to inform us whether or not we have not performed better under the APC government.”I am President Muhammadu Buhari’s first son.I hope Tinubu will adopt me as his son as well.I know it is finished.
In response, Tinubu stated that he was prepared to keep his word and fulfill all of his campaign promises to Nigerians if he were elected president in the general election in 2023.
He stated, “I keep my promises.I speak the truth.David Umahi, an experienced engineer, is the subject of this celebration.Many of you are traveling extensively throughout the Niger, disregarding tribes, to form friendships.
In a previous statement, the chairman of the Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRH Eze Charles Mkpuma, speaking on behalf of all of the monarchs, asked Tinubu to give the South-east region the opportunity to produce the country’s next Senate President if he wins the election.
Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, was given the title “Dike di Ora mma 1” by the traditional rulers of Ebonyi State.
