2023 polls: If you didn’t win, Jonathan advises politicians to sleep and conduct business.

Previous President Goodluck Jonathan has prompted legislators who didn’t win in the official and Public Gathering surveys and those that probably won’t prevail in that frame of mind in the approaching governorship and state gathering races to consider carrying on with work or different areas of interest.

The former president also said that he almost wept when he won the election to be president in 2007 because he had never wanted to be vice president.

Keep in mind that Jonathan was the running mate of the late President Musa Yar’Adua, who was succeeded by Atiku Abubakar and former President Olusegun Obasanjo. After Yar’Adua’s death in May 2010, Jonathan took over as president.

He advised politicians to behave peacefully throughout and after the elections in 2023.

“As a leader in the country who had the honor of serving at both the state and national levels, all I can say is that politics is not about you having to be there. You will be there if God wants you there. You will not be there if it is not yet your turn to be there. I almost wept when I became vice president; I never wanted to, but that was my fate and I had to move.

“Thus, I exhort individuals who are keen on these workplaces and their allies to behave quite well. They don’t want to serve themselves; they want to help us.

I always advise people to start a business if they are so ambitious. Go to bed if you want to be in the state assembly but no one wants you there. You want to be governor, but nobody wants you, so go to bed or work.

“However, if you want to serve us as people, you must be humble and promise not to kill us first. Along these lines, individuals should behave calmly and assuming God believes that them should win their decisions, they will win their races,” Jonathan said.

Jonathan, then-Gov. of Bayelsa State, was selected as Yar’Adua’s running mate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket prior to the 2007 general elections. They won the election, and before Yar’Adua’s death, he served as Vice President for three years.

Jonathan took office as President after Yar-Adua’s death and completed his term. In 2011, he ran for office again, this time for a further four years. However, in 2015, he was defeated in his bid for reelection by Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
