A court prevents businesses from accessing N1.37 billion in 24 banks.

By Innocent Anaba, a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos yesterday barred Duport Midstream Company Limited, Platform Capital Investment Partners Limited, and their managing director, Akintoye Akindele, from accessing N1.379 billion or its equivalent in any currency in 24 banks until a motion on notice filed by Union Bank was decided.Following an application made by the bank through its attorney, Temilolu Adamolekun, the order was made by Justice Akintayo Aluko, the trial judge.

The case’s fourth to 27th respondents are the 24 banks.

The candidate bank claimed that the respondents were obligated to it to the tune of N1,379,400,918 as of June 30, 2023, Giving the ex parte application movement, Equity Aluko, said: ” It is, therefore, requested as follows: ” That an interim order of Mareva Injunction is granted, preventing the defendants from handling any money in their custody up to the amount of N1,379,400,918 or its equivalent in any foreign currency, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice, in any of their accounts, records, or otherwise, held with the 4th to 27th respondents.

The court likewise controlled the banks from delivering to the respondents any monies, reserves or some other instrument having a place with the litigants, to the tune of N1,379,400,918 or equality in any unfamiliar money might be tracked down in their care.

It further coordinated the banks “to uncover on vow anything amount of cash that might be in their authority having a place with the litigants for additional course of this court is thusly conceded.”
