A group in the United States officially opens the Biafra House for administrative government business.

A gathering of Igbo occupants in the US have introduced a Biafra House in Oxon Slope, Maryland, Washington DC, US, Vanguard has learnt.

“To serve the Biafran people and bring international services to people and nations who are friends of Biafra,” according to the group, the Biafra House was established last week.

“The Biafra House is officially opened for business to the public, including Government Administrative Matters, Diplomatic Protocol, International Relations, and Security, amongst others,” a source who spoke on condition of anonymity told Vanguard on Friday.

The goal of the Biafra House was to help Nigerians of Igbo descent living in the United States and elsewhere in the Diaspora establish positive relationships with the international community through cooperative efforts.

On November 12, 2022, the inauguration was attended by Igbo people from all walks of life, according to the source.

“In the event that the United Nations and other international organizations are able to compel the Nigerian government to hold a plebiscite for the Biafran people, the Biafra House will engage in partnerships and provide services to both local governments and the international community.

“The crème de la crème of political leaders from various nations, business tycoons, and current and former U.S. military personnel, some of whom are of Biafran descent, were the highlight of the opening ceremony.

“The traditional and cultural dances performed by Biafrans were other side attractions at the opening ceremony, in addition to the traditional cutting of the tape and prayers.”

The source continued, “Local and international media houses were not left out, as they added color during the grand opening.”
