The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) claim that the “unknown gunmen” who murdered innocent residents of the South-East region in Nigeria are to blame.
The Igbo People’s Organization (IPOB) asserted that the unidentified gunmen responsible for making the Igbo land unsafe by relentlessly committing mass killings and displacing communities are the agents of security agencies.
On Thursday, the group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, released a statement with the headline “Nigerian security agencies are the unknown gunmen terrorizing Igbo land.”

It continued, “This year’s Christmas season has been a season of human harvest of killings and displacement of peaceful Igbo communities by the Nigerian government and its compromised security agencies.”
“To portray Igbo land as unsafe, they target Igbo youths who returned home for Christmas. Nigerian security agencies and the government-sponsored Ebubeagu carried out all of the killings of Ndigbo and the displacement of communities. Later, the government blamed unknown gunmen and ESN employees for the killings.
According to the statement, some security personnel broke into a bar in the state of Anambra on January 1 and shot at least 50 young people.
In addition, the grisly murder was attributed to unknown gunmen.
It went on to say that “some security agencies recently went to a bar in Anambra village and murdered without mercy approximately fifty youths who were celebrating New Year’s in their community. Later, they claimed that the gunmen were unknown.”

“The unidentified gunmen who are terrorizing Igbo land are Nigerian security agencies.”
“We are calling the attention of the international community, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch Organizations, American Government, Russian Government, German Government, UK Government, United Nations Human Rights Organizations, Israeli Government, Canadian Government, French Government, and all Diplomatic Missions in Abuja to the ethnic cleansing agenda happening in Biafra land, particularly in Igbo Land,” said IPOB, seeking intervention to address these killings.
