North of 1,000 young people under the aegis of the Coalition of Political Parties in Akwa Ibom State, on Wednesday, blockaded the Secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state, requesting the prompt expulsion of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini.
The dissenters recited the “Igini Must Go” trademark over and over and showed bulletins of different engravings, for example, “Igini is one-sided”, “A majority rules system isn’t available to be purchased”, “INEC should act now”, “Akwa Ibom REC is compromised.”
Others include: “Igini, don’t kill Akwa Ibom ideological groups”, “Igini is sectarian”, “Igini is a factional Chairman of a party”, among a few others.
Talking while at the same time tending to the dissenters, the head of the gathering, Mr. Ubok-Obong Umoh, said the “individual quarrel” of Igini against the fundamental resistance in the state ought to be examined.
“This dissent is done by every one of the young people in resistance ideological groups in Akwa Ibom State and the APC allies are here since it is the fundamental resistance in the state.
