BREAKING: ESN engage in shootout with armed Fulani herdsmen in Enugu, recover seized farmland

There were exchange of gunfire on Thursday as the Eastern Security Network (ESN) engaged in a shootout with armed Fulani herdsmen in Aninri, Enugu state.

Occupied agricultural land was recaptured by ESN operatives after the shooting which lasted more than 25 minutes.

A video received by OAK METRO on Friday, which confirmed the incident, showed ESN operatives advancing towards fleeing armed herders during a shootout.

An ESN operative who filmed the incident, said armed in the video that the terrorists seized and used the farmland as a hiding place where they held kidnapped victims, and hides after carrying out attacks on civilians.

“They’ve been occupying here for years,” said the ESN agent.

No ESN member was injured in the shooting, said the non-state vigilante group.
