BREAKING: Soldiers attack Biafra Nations League members in Bakassi Pennisula

The Nigerian army raided a meeting point of suspected members of the Biafra Nations League (BnL) on Friday and dispersed members of the separatist group with gunfire.

OAK METRO reports that there were no casualties or arrests in the incident that occurred in Obutong, Bakassi region of Cross River State.

According to an eyewitness, the military arrived after reports that members of the BnL converged in the community around 6 p.m. for a meeting which purpose is unknown.

A military source in Bakassi had disclosed on Tuesday that Cameroonian and Nigerian soldiers were on high alert, after the BnL announced that its paramilitary wing would take control of the borders and cripple Nigeria’s international business at sea.

In November 2021, the separatist group had taken control of the border of ‘Welcome To Bakassi’, an entrance to the peninsula ceded to Cameroon.
