Calabar: Police Intervene As Man Loses Penis, Testicles After Handshake

The police have responded to a scene where a crowd had gathered, attempting to assault two individuals after one man, who remains unnamed, claimed that his genitals had disappeared.

The incident occurred moments ago at the roundabout connecting Akai Effa (MCC Road) with the GoodLuck Ebele Jonathan bypass road in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

Witnesses at the scene reported that when the man realized his genitals had disappeared, he raised an alarm and removed his trousers to examine the situation.

Jeremiah Archibong, the Board Secretary of the Association of Cross Online Journalists, informed the CrossRiverWatch newsroom that the man described what he saw as smaller than a grain of rice, with no testicles present. He also mentioned that the police had arrived and managed to calm the situation.

In recent weeks, there have been increasing reports of male genitals seemingly vanishing after handshakes in Calabar. A similar incident in the Nyanghasang community of Calabar Municipal resulted in a police raid, sparking a community reprisal. During the conflict, a police vehicle was damaged, and entertainer Kandy Umoh was among those arrested.

Although Mr. Umoh and a few others were later released, nearly two dozen community residents faced charges in a Magistrate Court and were remanded at the Medium Security Custodial Center in Afokang.

Around two weeks ago, a similar incident occurred at night near the Ekpo Abasi junction, close to the University of Cross River State’s Main Campus gate.
