The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, have began a secret probe on the true source of wealth of Obinna Iyiegbu known nationwide as Obi Cubana.
The networth of the popular Anambra-born businessman, who is the Chairman of Cubana Group, is around $96million.
EFCC reportedly began probe of the businessman after receiving “petitions” against him for alleged abuse of naira and false source of wealth declaration.
“Our office have received several petitions against Obi Cubana. The petitioners are asking that he should be arrested for abuse of naira, but that we won’t attend to because that aspect have been handled. The major focus is on the allegations that what he said is his source of his wealth, isn’t what he claim,” said a source from the EFCC.
“The financial crime agency have began a secret probe to ascertain the true source of his source of wealth, alongside that of few others in his team,” He added.
He came into spotlight after his mother’s burial in July 2021, when money rained like water at the funeral turned into a carnival, in Oba Anambra State.
