Nnamdi Kanu being starved and mistreated in DSS custody — Emmanuel, brother

Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, said the detained activist is denied food while in Department of State Services (DSS) custody in Abuja.

Emmanuel revealed this on Monday, after visiting the leader of IPOB.

In a brief statement received by OAK METRO, Emmanuel said his brother is still being mistreated despite a court ruling that ordered the Department of States Services (DSS) to allow Nnamdi Kanu to have the “maximum possible comfort” in its facility.

“Just visited the alpha male Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, at the Department of State Security Services Abuja. During my interaction with him, he told me that he has been denied food since yesterday,” said Emmanuel, who added that

“As if that wasn’t enough, DSS has also denied him his medical report after taking his Blood for more than 21 times. They have continuously disobeyed all the court orders.”

Meanwhile, Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel for the detained separatist leader has condemned the continued disobedience to the court order by the DSS.

While also condemning his client’s starvation, Ejimakor said in a tweet, “Starvation of a detainee is an act of TORTURE. It’s illegal & immoral to boot. Any nation that condones it has diminished its sovereign right of incarceration.”

Kanu, who is demanding a referendum on an independent state known as Biafra in the east of Nigeria, has been in the custody of the DSS since his abduction and unlawful extradition to Nigeria in June 2021.
