NSCDC reveals fresh plan to tackle insecurity in Zamfara as soldiers withdraw to south

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Zamfara State has concluded plans to establish Agro Rangers Offices in the three Senatorial zones of the state.

The Commandant of the Corps in the State, Akushie Sparks, disclosed this during a meeting with Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, and the associations of farmers in Zamfara State.

He reaffirmed that in the pursuant of the statutory obligations of the Corps, in the area of conflict mediation, between herders and farmers, the three Senatorial Zones of Kotokoroshi, Maradun and Kaura Namoda, will have an Agro Rangers Office each, to address the problem.

The NSCDC Commandant warned residents to desist from taking the laws into their hands.

He advised them to lodge all conflict-related matters to the Agro Rangers Unit for mediation and settlement.

He also called on the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders and the Zamfara State Farmers Association, to collaborate with the corps, to achieve the desired results.

The NSCDC boss in Zamfara State, Commandant Akushie Sparks, said he aims to ensure Zamfara is put on the global map of peace and to enhance greater agricultural output.

The representative of the Farmers Association, Hassan Mohammed, thanked the leadership of the NSCDC, for convening the meeting, which is the first of its kind, in the state.

He said that the Farmers Association in Zamfara State is ready to collaborate with the corps, to ensure that peace reigns in the state.

Similarly, the representative of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Jabi Uguwa Shado, said the association is poised to collaborate with the corps, to further strengthen the peaceful coexistence, among the ethnic groups in Zamfara State.
