Okorocha, Araraume Collapse Support Structures For PDP’s Anyanwu- Imo Guber

The Imo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially launched its campaign council for the upcoming November 11 gubernatorial election. Notably, the campaign received a significant boost from two key figures within the APC: Rochas Okorocha and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.

The endorsement of PDP’s candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, was announced during the event held in Owerri on Tuesday. Followers of both Okorocha’s Rescue Mission Group and Araraume’s Destiny Group declared their support for Anyanwu, citing him as the sole contender capable of unseating the current governor, Uzodinma.

Led by the party’s Chairman, Mr. Charles Ugwu, the council was inaugurated. Ugwu unveiled the campaign’s leadership structure, with Federal House of Representatives member Ikenga Ugochinyere named as Director-General and Prince Marshal Okoroaforanyanwu taking on the role of Secretary.

Urging all party members to contribute to the party’s success in the election, Ugwu emphasized the importance of victory in this race.

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Party’s Gubernatorial Candidate, outlined his vision in his address. He expressed his intention to address issues such as violence and insecurity in the state, improve the healthcare system, and restore dignity to both the workforce and pensioners. He also vowed to rejuvenate the state’s tourism industry and promote the functioning of local governments. He encouraged the council to carry out their responsibilities without fear and to stand strong in the face of intimidation.

Anyanwu asserted, “I will lead and I fear nobody. I want to stop the bloodshed and suffering in the land. Do not be afraid, I know my roots. I am your messenger, and I will lead you rightly. My name is Samuel, God has spoken, and I have listened.”

Prince Marshal Okoroaforanyanwu, the council’s secretary, emphasized that PDP’s selection of Anyanwu, hailing from the Imo East senatorial district, upholds the principle of equity. He pointed out that this district has only held the governorship for a mere seven months since the return of democratic rule in 1999.
