Otti, Gowon complies with IPOB demands and cancels the Abia prayer rally.

The Prayer Rally, which was supposed to usher in the administration of Alex Otti, the governor-elect of Abia State, has been postponed as a result of General Yakubu Gowon, the former head of the military, bowing to the demands of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Keep in mind that IPOB advised Dr. Alex Otti, the upcoming governor of Abia, to decline General Yakubu Gowon’s (rtd.) invitation to his inaugural ceremony.

IPOB In a press proclamation on Friday said that the expansion of the solicitation to Gowon to go to the introduction would conjure past recollections of 1967 slaughter against the Biafra public. “Unrepentant and unapologetic mass murderer Yakubu Gowon is not welcome for any prayers not only in Abia State but also in the entirety of Biafraland for that matter,” IPOB stated.

However, Apostle Chuks Alozie, the Prayer Rally’s weekend coordinator, stated that Gowon had suspended the program due to criticism.

Alozie says that Gowon said he didn’t want to be dragged into politics over a genuine prayer request.

According to Apostle Alozie, the general stated, “We will continue to pray and strive for the peace and unity of Nigeria, especially Abia State.”

After defeating his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of the People’s Democratic Party, Otti of the Labour Party was declared the winner of the Abia governorship election on March 18.
