Sapele cult war: Warri North council dep leader, 3 others killed

Gunmen reportedly killed four people in Sapele, Delta State, including Grikpa Bigha, the legislative leader of Warri North Local Government Council, in the metropolis.

Alhaji Bello, a businessman who dealt in hired purchase tricycles and motorbikes for commercial operators, and Matthew Ekiopa Eroso, a boutique operator, and his salesgirl, who were both shot dead in front of their shop along Mission Road by Lexi Junction, were also reportedly killed by the killers who stormed the community on Wednesday.

At the time of this writing, no one knew what led to the most recent rash of murders in Sapele.

It was learned that the deaths occurred while the bloated bodies of two young boys, who had been reported missing two days earlier, were being discovered.

The deceased politician, like the other victims, “probably at the wrong place at the wrong time,” according to a source who requested anonymity.

In a text message to Vanguard, the state police public relations officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who had previously dismissed the killings as untrue, later changed his mind and confirmed the deaths of two people.

In the meantime, people who live in the ancient city of Sapele have pleaded with the government and security agencies to act more decisively against the increasing instances of insecurity in the town.

“We are pleading with the government, including the state, local government, and security agencies, to concentrate on Sapele.”
