Southern Youth Forum condemns attack on Igboho, plan protest for Kanu

The Southern Youth Forum, SYF, has condemned the attack on Oduduwa’s independence leader, Sunday Igboho.

Igboho’s home was attacked early hours of Thursday by the Nigerian army, which also killed at least three people.

SYF said the attack is a justification for the “zoo” that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), called Nigeria.

In the statement signed by its spokesperson, Dezia Kue, and its national president, Adewale Lekan, the group revealed its plan for a nationwide protest that they said could be violent, for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu.

The statement reads: “We, the Southern Youth Forum (SYF), strongly condemn the attack on Sunday Igboho’s home by the Nigerian army.

“This attack on Igboho is further proof that the country is ruled by a group of tyrants who are anti-masses. The country is now no different from the “zoo” called it by Nnamdi Kanu, whose home was raided in 2017 in Umuahia by the military who tried to assassinate him.

“Self-determination, as we all know, is not a crime in any law known around the world, therefore there is no justification for the attack and murder of citizens in Igboho’s house.

“As we prepare for a nationwide, perhaps violent, protest for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, we call on the federal government and the governors of the Southwest to ensure that all those behind the attack on Sunday Igboho’s home are brought to book within 72 hours or we will take the laws into our hands.”
