‘APC plans to disunite Nigerians with Muslim/Muslim ticket’—Senator Walid Jibrin

Senator Walid Jibrin, a former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, has accused the All Progressives Congress of preparing to divide Nigerians in advance of the general elections in 2023 with its Muslim/Muslim ticket.
During his party’s zonal campaign rally on Thursday, Jibrin, Chairman of the PDP presidential and governorship campaign council in Nasarawa State, made the claim in the state’s Awe Local Government Area.
According to the information provided by our correspondent, the Muslim presidential candidate for the APC, Bola Tinubu, had selected Kashim Shettima, the former governor of Borno State, as his running mate prior to the election. Shettima is also a Muslim.
Many Christians protested the development, describing it as an attempt to “Islamize” the nation, causing religious discontent.
Additionally, Christian party members were expelled as a result of the APC’s action.
“That singular unpatriotic gesture, coming at a time of rising security challenges confronting the nation is never a development that is welcome,” stated Senator Jibrin.
“The lame and insulting to the sensibility of Nigerians are the apparent late excuses by Tinubu to justify what is clearly an anomaly, that his wife is a Pentecostal pastor.
Furthermore, “it is evident that Nigeria cannot be safe in the hands of the former governor of Lagos State whose decisions and actions could plunge the country into chaos,” according to the APC’s presidential candidate.
Jibrin, on the other hand, stated that the PDP would be in control of the country and that it would be safer. He also stated that David Ombugadu, the party’s candidate for governor of Nasarawa state, and Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, are men of high intellect and calm who would ensure the country’s steady growth and development.
He urged state residents to cast ballots for all PDP candidates in the 2023 elections, promising that the party would use democracy’s benefits to address the nation’s numerous problems.
The former Chairman of the Board of Trustees commented on the current disagreement between the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, stating that the party’s leaders were frantically attempting to resolve the issues before the 2023 elections began.
“What’s going on now in the PDP is a family matter.Governor Wike and Alhaji Atiku are brothers. We are making efforts to address the issues as leaders, and we are hopeful that they will be resolved prior to the elections in February 2023.
“I stepped down from my position as BoT chairman to make room for other party stakeholders who had never held my previous position to do so and to allow peace to reign in the party.”
Walid Jibrin added, “I am urging our party members and supporters to remain resolute in the struggle.” He said, “I am confident that the PDP will retake the presidency and win many states during the forthcoming elections.”
