As PCC members and NorthEast support group defect to PDP, the Obi/Datti campaign suffers setbacks.

A few weeks before the presidential election, some members of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and some support groups in the North East have switched to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

On Tuesday, Muhammad Pantami, a spokesperson for the Party’s NorthEast presidential campaign council, informed journalists in Bauchi of their decision.

He claimed that the actions of the party’s leaders have rendered the support groups and the party’s Presidential Campaign Council in the NorthEast worthless. Pantami explained that they are not being brought along to campaign rallies in nearly all of the NorthEast’s states, including Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, and Borno.

He stated, “The story will not change in Yobe State when they go to campaign on February 1, 2023,” based on all indications.

In addition, he stated that the party’s leaders hold most of the power, preventing all members from influencing decisions.

Pantami also said that members of the Northern Block were not involved in the party’s decision-making process.

He went on to say, “We only see politicking activities going on or we are just asked to do something without enough time or other resources to prepare effectively.”

Pantami said that the Labour Party’s leadership’s actions and inactions have not united leaders and followers, which could make it less likely that the party will win the next presidential election.

He went on to say, “Based on the aforementioned issues that have been raised, we the leaders, stakeholders, and members of approximately 4 million registered voters in the six states of Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, and Yobe have resolved firmly to resign our membership from the labor party and defect to the People’s Democratic Party.”
