BREAKING: 15 villagers killed in fresh attack in Ebonyi

At least 15 civilians have died in a new attack on Effium community in Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi state.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, November 5, 2021, left civilians injured.

Ezza fighters are responsible for the attack, residents told OAK METRO, adding that the attack lasted more than 30 minutes.

Emmanuel Acha, the president of the Association of Effium Indigenes International (ASSEI), who confirmed the incident, said on Facebook:

“No Orring person is free again in the hands of Ezzas. Today around 4am, Ezza warriors attacked and killed about 15  Amuda/Idzem people at Effium.

“Ebonyi State govt is supervising the decimation of indigenous Orring communities by the Ezza tribe. We will hold the killers and their sponsors responsible”

Many people have died since violence erupted between the residents of Ezza and Effium.

In February 2021, at least 25 people were killed and more than 125 houses burned down in armed community fighting.
