Dozens of travelers were injured on Monday when unidentified gunmen ambushed travelers along the Ohafia-Uzuakoli-Umuahia road in Abia state.
The passengers were ambushed at Ugwu Rubber and shot while traveling from Ohafia to Umuahia, said multiple sources confirming the incident.
The attack occurred amidst lockdown which some separatists say must take place despite its suspension by the leadership of Biafran pro-independence group— the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which survivors could not confirm whether there were any deaths.
