SAHARANEWS – A herdsmen group, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, says that the support by South-West governors for the new security outfit, Operation Amotekun, might hurt the region’s chances of securing the Presidency in 2023.
Amotekun was launched last week in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
National Secretary of the herdsmen group, Alhassan Saleh, told newsmen on Wednesday that it was in support of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, declaring Amotekun illegal.
“It is best they give up on this idea because it may affect the chances of the South-West to produce the President in 2023. The thinking is that if the South-West, a major stakeholder in this government, can be toying with this idea now, they may do worse when they get to power,” Saleh said.
He added that the Amotekun was political and could not be seen as a solution to the problem of insecurity.
The scribe also said that the South-West governors should have continued to push for state police.
