BREAKING:APC Governors and Buhari Sets Up Panel To Inspect Edo Election Loss.

The All Progressives Congress has set up a committee to assess its Saturday, September 19 loss against the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Edo State governorship election.

reports that the candidate of the PDP, Godwin Obaseki had defeated Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the ruling party, in the just concluded governorship polls in Edo State.

Governor Obaseki so far has received a tune of congratulatory messages from his fellow party members, party chieftains and even stakeholders from the ruling party, APC.

However, speaking to newsmen at APC’s national secretariat in Abuja a few moments ago, a member of the National Caretaker Committee of the APC, Mr Ismail Ahmed disclosed that the party would carry out a post mortem on the Edo election to ascertain the factors that led to the defeat of the party.

According to Ahmed, APC would not take the October 10 governorship election in Ondo State for granted following the loss to the opposition in Edo state.

He said: “We ran against an incumbent governor and everybody knows the history of Edo governorship primary and there were a lot of circumstances we could not explain.

“We thought we had covered the ground fully well but there was a blindside we didn’t see. But the party has not officially done a post-mortem which we intend to do this week. The National Assembly is very busy, we are going to call a post-mortem to know how far and how we found ourselves in this kind of situation.”

The youth leader stated further that it was very disheartening that for the first time since 2015, the party does not have a single representation in the South-south in terms of a state, adding that the APC had representation in all the geo-political zones since 2015, but it has lost it now, adding that the party would have to work hard to regain it.
