BREAKING:High voltage kills 10 in Zaria community

11 people have died as a result of a high electric power supply in some parts of Zazzau in Gwargwaje and Kauran Juli, which are located along the Zaria-Kaduna Expressway.

According to Mallam Abdullahi Tanimu, a local resident, “Electric power supply was restored in the area around 1 a.m. in high voltage.” Devices were sparked indiscriminately as a result.

He claimed that the high voltage set fire to the residence of one engineer, Zubair Abubakar, and that other residences continued to emit smoke.

He stated that the following people were killed by high voltage: health care workers, a police officer, and a pregnant woman, among others.

Abdulazeez Abdullahi, Head of Corporate Communication at Kaduna Electricity Company (KEDCO), confirmed the deaths by explaining that the accident was caused by a voltage supply exceeding limits due to a high tension line snapping onto a low tension line.

He added, “The source feeder was immediately opened in an emergency to prevent additional damage.”

However, the statement thanked Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, for helping to manage the incident’s effects.
