Nigeria’s federal government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, has promised to complete the construction of 9,000-capacity prisons in three states by December 2022.
Rauf Aregbesola, the Federal Minister of Interior, revealed this on Monday after a tour of the ultra-modern 3,000 Karshi Capacity Custody Centre in Abuja.
The minister stated that the construction of the prisons in Abuja, Rivers and Kano state, which have a capacity of 3,000 each, is almost complete.
He said they will be completed and commissioned before President Buhari leaves office.
