COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: FG Makes U-Turn, Orders Markets To Open Between 10am To 2pm Daily

SAHARANEWS – President Muhammadu Buhari while reviewing his order that directed the complete lockdown of Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states to curb the spread of the virus in the country has announced that all markets in these states will be allowed to open between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm daily.



This, according to reported gathered by SaharaNews is in a move to ease the burden placed on residents of the states by the total lockdown order.

The national co-ordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani made this known during a, press conference on Wednesday.

“For markets, only shops and stalls selling food and groceries shall be allowed to open to customers between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm,” he said.

Going further, he said supermarkets and food stores are allowed to operate between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.



Sani added that Buhari also tasked all owners and managers to embark on a thorough screening of staff and customers.

“On arrival, all staff must be screened for a high temperature and all those found to have a high body temperature above 38, will be denied entry and advised to seek immediate medical attention.

“All deliveries for supplies and products for these supermarkets must be made between the hours of 5:00 am and 9:00 am,” Sani added.
