C’River: IEDs, five AK-47s, and other items are recovered by police after they make arrests of suspected IPOB members.

The Cross River state Police paraded three people in Calabar on Monday who were thought to be members of the IPOB, including the village head.

In addition, several locally manufactured pistols and dane guns, as well as four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two explosive chemicals, five AK-47 riffles, 200 rounds of live ammunition, and one pump action, were retrieved by the command.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sule Balarabe, told reporters at the Command Headquarters in Diamond Hills, Calabar, that they had reliable information that some IPOB members were seen in the Bebe III community in the Obanliku LGA planning to carry out their criminal activities.

“The military acted in concert with the Anti Kidnapping Squad based on the strength of the information and arrested three suspected individuals—Richard Ukehad, 29, Esther Asado, 29, and Chief Isaac Ebebe, 44.

“They simultaneously led the team to their camp, where they found two Dane guns, a Biafra uniform, a Biafra flag, four explosive devices, two suspected explosive chemicals, criminal charms, a police beret, and a variety of other items. They will soon be brought before the court, he stated.

In addition, CP Balabare disclosed that two additional individuals had been arrested for unlawful firearm possession.

He stated: While carrying out its duties, the command will not tolerate any unwholesome behavior from any group or individual.

He stated, “We are ready to crack down on criminal elements and lawbreakers at all levels.”
