FIFA honours Nigerian journalist Kunle Solaja for covering 9 World Cups

In collaboration with the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), FIFA has awarded Kunle Solaja, a Nigerian journalist and publisher of Sports Village Square, recognition for his coverage of nine World Cup competitions.
On Tuesday, 81 other sports journalists were honored at a ceremony in Doha, Qatar.
Only Solaja and Mark Glesson of South Africa have received the honor.
They received a certificate of achievement that was jointly signed by AIPS president Gianni Merlo and FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
Additionally, the journalists were presented with a miniature replica of the World Cup trophy.
In relation to the accomplishment, Solaja stated that he is motivated by journalists who have reported on more than fifteen World Cups and that the recognition is satisfying.
It has been wonderful. For me, the greatest global spectacle that we can discuss is the World Cup.Being a part of it has also been very fulfilling for me,” he stated.
“People who have covered 15, 16, and 17 World Cups further inspire me, and I hope I will be able to do that.Diego Lucero, a man I met at my first World Cup, was known at the time as the only person to have watched every World Cup.
In 1990, Solaja covered his first World Cup.Since then, he has reported on the quadrennial competition at each of the subsequent competition venues.
