Fuel, naira scarcity: No Nigerian should campaign for APC — Bode George

Yesterday, Olabode George, the former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), urged Nigerians not to campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and accused the APC of throwing Nigeria into a state of formlessness.

George, on the other hand, accused the leadership of the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, of participating in a “conspiracy of silence” regarding the lack of fuel and naira.

The leader of the PDP addressed journalists at his Lugard office in Lagos and stated: The global golden rule known as “order,” which is a legal and constitutional process of conformity with law or decorum, appears to have left Nigeria’s political, economic, and social lives. This is said without hesitation or attempts to raise an alarm.

“While Nigeria is beset on all fronts, there appears to be a graveyard silence due to this anomaly, which is a deviation from regulation or normalcy.

“Every day, the political system experiences something strange or unusual, which is the cause of the socioeconomic turmoil that permeates our entire landscape.

Nigeria’s gradual descent into a state of enduring hopelessness is heartbreaking.

“In all candor, I am unable to comprehend the logic of silence in light of the cliff edge into which the APC government has pushed the Nigerian state, where there appear to be no opposing viewpoints calling for the ruling government to reconsider.

The PDP, one of our parties, and other parties like the Labour Party, SDP, and NNPP appear to have agreed with the current machinations.

“I wonder what hatred, evil, or irrationality would inspire a rational person to plunge Nigeria into the state of hopelessness, annihilation, and the utmost suffering of its citizens at this time.

“At the same time, due to the state of formlessness that the ruling party has thrown Nigeria into, I see it as absolute lunacy for anyone to campaign for the APC or to contest on the platform of the APC.

“Where is Atiku Abubakar, our party’s presidential candidate, the PDP? Where is National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu? With the presidential election just a few days away, how come the PDP’s DG, Campaign Council, has remained silent about the APC government’s atrocities?

Why have they allowed their voices to be muffled by a conspiracy’s silence?

Where are the political parties in opposition? What do Nigerians gain from the graveyard silence? It would appear that the political class has abandoned the right to good for Nigerians.

“When it comes to confronting Nigeria’s challenges, the center appears overwhelmed, stunned, halted, stalled, and perplexed.

“The various state actors can do better, in my opinion.

Nigerians should not be taken for granted by economic policymakers who implement regressive measures.

Instead, we should try to review our focus and our long-term horizon. Nigeria needs to get away from this dangerous cliff.”

Maj. Maj., a former Minister of Communications, is calling for immediate action to be taken. Gen. Tajudeen Olanrewaju (retd) has urged security agents to detain petroleum marketers and bankers who are hoarding the Naira and petroleum, arguing that there is no reason for this to cause Nigerians hardship.

Olanrewaju said in a statement: Lagosians must pay attention this time. Our identity, rights, and future will be determined by the elections in 2023. Every genuine citizen of IBILE (Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos, and Epe) must be prepared to challenge the current situation and free themselves from a one-man dictatorship.

“This is a sound monetary policy, but it is being implemented for personal gain in the distribution chain to consumers. People in Nigeria enjoy inflicting harm on one another. This is a problem that arises from the bottom up, not from leadership at the top.

“At this time, citizens of Nigeria need to help the government succeed. In the supply and demand chain, the poor will suffer if you lack fuel and low-value currency.
