The Nigerian security agents arrested dozens of Jewish worshipers in another attack on a synagogue in Orji, Imo state.
The incident happened on Saturday, October 30, 2021, while Jewish worshipers were observing Shabbat.
Videos circulating on social media showed armed security agents sporadically shooting as they tied up and forced worshipers into their vans.
“Among those arrested is the head of the Association of Jewish Faith Synagogue, whom they mistreated and took away,” a resident told Gazette Africa at the scene after the incident, adding that “they are accused of being supporters of Biafra”.
An eyewitness told OAK METRO that security agents also arrested passers-by during the incident which lasted for more than 30 minutes.
Authorities have yet to release a statement on the reasons for the illegal raid and arrest of worshipers.
