I scored zero in APC primary with true identity, credentials, Tunde Bakare mocks Tinubu’s men

Pastor Tunde Bakare, serving overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, addressed critics who were against his state-of-the-nation address on Sunday, claiming that he scored zero in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC primary with authentic credentials.

He asked, “Can someone tell these people that scoring zero in a primary election while still maintaining one’s true identity, integrity, and original credentials from well-known schools:

“Is it true that enrollment in primary, secondary, and postsecondary institutions, as well as universities, both inside and outside of this nation, is a true badge of honor that cannot be disputed? Please tell them that, using Michel De Montaigne’s words.

Bakare had advised Nigerians to avoid those who promoted “emilokan,” which means “my turn” in Yoruba and is associated with Tinubu.

He went on to say that any decent politician trying to win the support of the people would participate in public debates and assign members of his team to respond to questions directed specifically at him.

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) swiftly responded by describing Bakare as a political paperweight whose statements should not be seriously considered.

According to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Director, Special Media Projects/New Media at the PCC, “Bakare got zero votes at the convention.”

The Special Adviser, Media, Communications, and Public Affairs at the PCC, Mr. Dele Alake, also responded by saying that the cleric is a newcomer to politics.

Bakare asked critics, “Why are they then giving any thought to what I said?,” in response. It’s possible that their alleged “paper weight” is too cumbersome for them to carry.

“Some defeats are more satisfying than victories.” To please his paymaster, one of the Special Advisers who I thought had some noble quality had to tell outright lies. He claimed that I made a video in which I asked churchgoers to vote for their candidate and then turned around to tell them not to.

Sadly, there is no such video that contains such lies. The condensed version of a message that was delivered at Citadel Global Community Church in 2020 and has the following title: The brain of an idle man is the devil’s workshop. In the video, I made it clear that I did not support their candidate’s way of life, business, or politics.

I never asked our members to vote for their candidate or any other candidate in the aforementioned video. Moreover, none of our members are zombies. By God’s grace, they are independent and will choose who to vote for on Election Day. Our greatest consolation comes from the fact that the Bible lays out the DNA and final destination of those whose trade is lying about other people and fabricating false information about them. Check out Psalm 58:3–8. The wicked are cut off from their mothers; “Rest assured, I will take the vicious attacks of these political merchants in my stride, because I know that according to Voltaire: “They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies…” Some are destined to reason incorrectly, others are destined to not reason at all, and others are destined to persecute those who do reason.”
