I will reverse CBN’s Naira redesign policy if elected – Kwankwaso

Official applicant of the New Nigeria Individuals’ Party, NNPP, Rabiu Musa-Kwankwaso, has promised to turn around the naira upgrade strategy of the National Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

In addition, the NNPP candidate pledged to combat poverty and insecurity if elected president on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Kwankwaso made this promise in front of his supporters in Funtua, Katsina State.

He said he would permit Nigerians with the old 200, 500 and 1,000 naira banknotes to store them in the banks.

Kwankwaso claimed that the government he would form would end the policy of redesigning the naira and permit Nigerians to deposit their previous notes in their respective banks.

He stated, “They introduced a naira redesign policy at this critical period of election despite the fact that we were told that 133 million Nigerians are poor.” Numerous poor Nigerians are now living in poverty as a result of this policy.

“However, we agreed to end the policy and allow you to take all of your old naira notes to banks for deposit and other transactions if you elect me and other NNPP candidates as president of this country.

“We at the NNPP intend to improve the economy, restore peace, and provide Nigerians with good governance. Nigerians have endured sufficient hardship, particularly those in Katsina State and other Northern states. We are on a mission of rescue.

Kwankwaso went on to say that the NNPP has the political power to end the country’s insecurity, rebuild the economy, and provide employment opportunities for the numerous youths without jobs in Nigeria.

He said he would increase the number of security guards to combat the rise in unrest and revamp the country’s educational system so that meaningful development could flourish.
