Along with over 3,000 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alfa Imam, the previous Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, has defected from the APC.
The former speaker declared that the ruling party had failed the nation while leading thousands of APC members from Lokoja Local Government Area in Kogi State to the opposition party.
Imam emphasized that he had stayed far too long with the ruling party, which he described as a complete failure in Nigeria, and that he was overwhelmed by the warm reception he had received from the PDP.
According to the former legislator, their move to the PDP is not seeking an alternative to the APC but rather a shift toward a party with structure and organized leadership, not the other way around.
He reiterated that the APC lacks leadership and stated that he believed he could remain in the party to rectify its shortcomings, but he was unsuccessful.
He recalled that they had campaigned against the PDP in 2014 but were perplexed by the fact that Nigeria had endured even more calamity under the APC.
Imam stated that his transition to PDP is a privilege rather than a right and that the PDP would win the general election convincingly next month.
I am pleased to transfer to a positive PDP that toxic environment (APC). He added, “We will take over Lugard house.” He praised former Senator Tunde Ogbeha, who represented Kogi West, for his leadership qualities in the Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Tunde Ogbeha, a former Kogi West senator who received the former speaker on behalf of the PDP in Lokoja Local Government, stated that the PDP would lead Nigeria to the promised land in his remarks.
The PDP warmly welcomes Alfa Imam. He deserves my gratitude for his foresight, compassion, and bravery. I encourage everyone who cares about progress and peace to join the PDP and come out of hiding. Many of you used to drive commercial vehicles for business when the PDP was in power. A bag of rice now costs more than N45,000. We cannot continue under this evil APC administration. The PDP will not defraud the bureau de change of your funds, as the APC has done in this country. Therefore, it is time to shift them from the state level to the national one.
He promised the new decampees that there would be no division or discrimination, and he said that the party would always welcome genuine people who want the best for Nigeria.
Ogbeha instructed Kogites to obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) in order to remove the APC administration’s poor leadership.
Shaba Ibrahim, a lawmaker who currently represents the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, asserted that the APC will be regretful about losing the former speaker to the PDP.
I wonder how he managed to function in the toxic APC environment. They let him go because he is a reasonable member of their group. We’ll get rid of everyone who took us from top to bottom. We will expel those who have made life in our state unbearable for us,” he continued.
He urged his supporters to ensure that they overthrow the APC.#
In his remarks, Teejay Yusuf, the PDP’s senatorial candidate for Kogi West, stated that the PDP has competent soldiers who can replace the bad leadership of the ruling party.
He stated that rather than alleviating the suffering of the people, the ruling APC has continued to intimidate them and instill hunger and insecurity in them.
From top to bottom, APC is contaminated. They are not deserving of anything in the world. Therefore, we must work together to end their wicked and unjustified leadership. A decision needs to be made at this point in time. The choice is to expel APC from Nigeria.
However, he advised Kogi State residents not to sell their votes but rather to support party candidates who have been tried and trusted in the past.
Kola Ologbodiyan, a former PDP national publicity secretary, claimed that the APC government led by Governor Yahaya Bello fired the former Speaker for speaking the truth to the constituted authorities.
