Judge dies after sentencing woman to life imprisonment

Judge Ramarumo Monama has died. Reports coming in say that Judge Ramarumo Monama, has died following a short illness. He was the judge who handed Rosemary Ndlovu six life sentences for multiple murder.

He found Ndlovu guilty of planning the murder of her partner and family members and for each he gave her a life sentence10 years behind bars on each count of incitement to commit murder and an additional 10 years for the attempted murder of her mother.

His death was confirmed by Gauteng Acting Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba saying that he died on Thursday after a short illness.

He precided a lot of high profile cases one of which was the Thulsie twins, Tony-Lee and Brandon Lee, which had been dragging on since 2016.

After investigations by the Hawks it was said the two conspired with a man known as Abu Harb, to perform acts of terrorism in South Africa, Monama sentenced them to five years each for attempting to leave South Africa to join ISIL in Syria.

When he did he was still handling the case of Nateniel Julies. Nateniel a 16 year old with Down Syndrome was killed by three police officers in August 2020.
