JUST IN: Again, protest rocks Ogun over naira scarcity, banks burnt

Once more, fight has ejected in Ogun State over the naira shortage, with recordings web based showing two banks set ablaze in the Sagamu region of the state.

The recordings shared on Monday showed numerous occupants looking as Cornerstone and Association banks were set on fire for certain young people holding boards in fight.

On Friday last week, The PUNCH had detailed how dissent ejected in the Mowe-Ibafo area of Ogun State, with numerous occupants impeding the Lagos-Ibadan Freeway in dissent of the misfortunes and difficulty brought about by the waiting shortage of the naira.

Responding to the turn of events, a Twitter client, @arranowanna stated, “Compassionately prompt your companions, families and colleagues to keep away from any fights. Take your disappointment to the voting forms on Saturday. Try not to consume banks, don’t consume gas stations, don’t consume government properties.”

Another client, @morningstar_305 stated, “I just set a call up with the house and it was affirmed to me that cornerstone bank and association bank at ijoku has been set on fire by furious residents.”

While well known tweep, Pooja, stated, “In the event that you are in Sagamu, be cautious cos there is a dissent on new naira notes.”

In the mean time, on Thursday last week, the President, Significant General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in a public transmission had said the old N500 and N1,000 notes were at this point not lawful delicate in the nation, but broadening the legitimacy of the old N200 note for 60 days, till April 10, 2023.
