A man from Zaria, a town in Kaduna State, divorced his wife on the grounds that he suspected her of being raped by bandits, Oak Metro reports.
The man has been married to his wife for 20 years, said Shehu Sani who revealed the incident.
According to the former senator who represented Kaduna Central, the man began to have suspicions after bandits released the woman they had kidnapped with others.
“I call on religious leaders who are aware of this to please intervene,” said Sani in the tweet on Thursday.
Reports of rape accompanies a series of reports of kidnappings and attacks by armed Fulani jihadists that have killed scores of Nigerians and displaced thousands.
