Lady arraigned after bitting off her lover’s ear for giving her N365 as transport fare

A Kenyan woman identified as, Zainab Ochero, has been arraigned in court for butting off her lover’s ear during a fight over insufficient transport fare.

At Kibera law courts on Tuesday, March 1, Ochero was charged with unlawfully causing serious injuries to a man identified as, Joseph Karanja, after he gave her KSh 100 (N365j as transport fare back home.

Zainab allegedly injured him at a bar where they were taking drinks at around 2am on February 21, at Kangemi, Nairobi. The two had disagreed in an attempt to resolve their relationship issues bordering on infidelity.

Mr. Karanja had reportedly called Ms Ochero to meet him at the bar in Kangemi to discuss their affair and she went but they disagreed and she left for her house in Kawangware. He called her back hours later and she joined him again at the bar and they continued arguing over infidelity while taking drinks.

He accused her of having affairs with other men and an argument ensued as they continued drinking amid disputes. After they were unable to agree, Ms. Ochero asked Mr. Karanja to hire a bike to take her home in Kawangware but he gave her Sh100 (N365).

Ms Ochero told police she insisted that Karanja hire a bike rider to take her home but Karanja allegedly started insulting her. She also told cops that she was totally drunk and only remembers waking up at Kangemi police station later the same day.

The police report detailed that the woman in anger pounced on the victim and b!t off his left ear before it fell to the ground. Seeing his ear on the ground, Karanja picked it up and carefully carried it in a paper bag to the hospital for treatment. The man was told to seek further treatment at another hospital in Eastland, where he was told that the ear was utterly damaged and needed plastic surgery after three months of treatment.

The suspect denied the charges before a senior resident magistrate Charles Mwaniki. She was released on a bond of Sh300,000. The matter will be mentioned on March 16.
