Lionel Scaloni, the coach of Argentina, has ranked Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi ahead of the late football great Diego Maradona as the greatest player in history.
Maradona led Argentina to victory in the 1986 World Cup, and Messi led Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in December.
In Argentina, the debate between Messi and Maradona had a clear winner for years. However, following the heroics of the former Barcelona captain, the landscape appears to have changed.
Scaloni was asked to select between Messi and Maradona while he was speaking on Cope’s “El Partidazo” program.
