Adewale Giwa, senior pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, has criticized the new naira notes’ design.
The cleric said that the action was “brainless” and that the notes “look fake and ugly.”
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, revealed the banknotes upgraded by the National Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Pastor Giwa made the observation that a nation’s currency defines it.
The new N500’s color is identical to that of the old N200, while the new N500’s color is identical to that of the N10.
“I am not yet convinced that the new naira notes can raise our currency’s value.”
“Can they cut down on the cost of garri, rice, or beans?”,He asked in his statement.
Giwa referred to the redesign as yet another APC project that was unsuccessful.
Since 2015, the ruling party, according to him, had placed Nigeria “in a state of confusion and unprecedented hardship.”
“And expects to succeed,” the cleric added, “no one grabs a thing with deceit and lies.”
