Nnamdi Kanu: Israeli activist calls President Buhari a ‘criminal’

A Jewish and Israeli-born activist, Hananaya Naftali has criticized Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari for what he described as kidnapping and interference in the court trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, OAK METRO reports.

Kanu was “abducted” in Kenya and illegally repatriated to Nigeria in 2021. He faces charges of treason and other baseless crimes for calling for a referendum on an independent state known as Biafra.

Lawyers for the separatist leader accuse the Nigerian government led by Muhammadu Buhari of interference in the trial before the court.

“President Buhari is a criminal,” Naftali said on Facebook, Thursday just 12 hours after the Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned Mr Kanu’s trial until February 16, 2022.

In late 2021, Naftali, who is also an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reservist and a popular social media influencer, had called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, saying self-determination is not a crime.
