“Nnamdi Kanu’s Approach, Methodologies, A Big Threat To The Unity Of Our Beloved County, I Wish To meet Him In Person” – Obasanjo

SAHARANEWS – Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has reacted to Nnamdi Kanu’s speech at the European Parliament on Tuesday, said President Muhammadu Buhari must meet with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu before the ongoing crisis gets out of hand.

Talking to Newsweek, Obasanjo, who as the president met with Niger Delta militant leaders in 2006 to stop attacks on oil installations, said: “I don’t see anything wrong in that [Buhari meeting with Kanu]. I would not object to that; if anything, I would encourage it.

“I would want to meet Kanu myself and talk to people like him, people of his age, [and ask:] ‘What are your worries?’ Not only from the southeast but from all parts of Nigeria.”

He said the Army’s “heavy boot” response to pro-Biafra sentiment is “not the solution” and added that the secession craved by IPOB, is not the way forward either.

“We need to satisfy the youth in job creation, in wealth creation, in giving them a better, fulfilled life, in giving them hope for the future. There’s no easy way out,” Obasanjo added.

OBJ I always like the way you handle issue but this time around I would distinct a little because we the Easterners can not continue to suffer in the midst of plenty.
A lot of approach has been put in place which we never objected to. You remember the three(3) Rs, Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Reintegration non was religiously implemented till date. You remember all the atrocities methed against the Igbos and yet we bear. All selected and nominate candidates come together for national conferred discussed and one their discussion was about how to manage the country which they agreed on rotational presidency and of course restructuring. The conferreb opinion was thrown over board because Igbos was involved, If I may ask you my oga did we igbos escorted other Nigeria.
Because Buhari still see Igbos to has lust the battlefield you can see the treatment being metted out to us igbos. In candid opinion enough is enough. Thank you sir
