Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that no one can threaten him regarding his choice of a presidential candidate, despite the fact that he has been accused of supporting Labour Party (LP) flag bearer Peter Obi.
Obasanjo claimed that he had bled and been imprisoned; Because of this, no one could threaten him regarding the presidential candidate he chose.
He made the announcement in Enugu State at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Secretariat.
Along with Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of Afenifere, and Obi, Obasanjo had gone to the Secretariat.
They paid a visit to the Secretariat to express their condolences regarding Mbazulike Amaechi’s passing.
Nevertheless, Obasanjo stated: I have given my life for this nation. I have gone to jail for this country.
So, what are you going to use to scare me or threaten me? The only thing that my older brother, Adebanjo, hasn’t done is go to prison, but we’ll leave that aside because he hasn’t shed any blood.
He stated that the issue in Nigeria was more national than ethnic.
The previous president mourned that Nigeria was at this point to have a pioneer with the right sort of character.
The issue we face in Nigeria is not one of ethnicity. It’s nationwide. Character is also, in my opinion, the most important quality in a leader.
He stated, “If I put my hand on someone, it means that comparing the other to me, I see a merit that will benefit Nigeria.”
