PDP crisis: G-5 have not endorsed Atiku, ignore fake report – Gov Ortom

The online report that the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, and his counterparts in the G-5 have resolved to work for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, to win the 2023 election has been discredited by the Benue State Government.

Additionally, it stated that the online report is fake and should be ignored.

This was stated in a statement that was signed on Tuesday by Terver Akase, the Special Adviser for Media and Publicity to the Governor.

The statement says that the report is false and malicious because it aims to make the five governors who have chosen the path of justice, fairness, and equity look bad.

It also revealed that, at a meeting with the PDP’s state caucus yesterday, Governor Ortom maintained that the party’s national leadership had failed to use its internal conflict resolution mechanism, resulting in the current crisis.

In part, the statement read: According to a fictitious online report, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and his G-5 colleagues have decided to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, in order to win the 2023 election.

Because it aims to embarrass the five Governors who have chosen the path of justice, fairness, and equity, the report is not only false but also malicious.

It would appear that the authors of the aforementioned report were on a last-ditch effort to score a cheap political point. The G-5 Governors’ meeting location and date were not mentioned in the report. The writers only wanted to profit from the PDP crisis for their own selfish ends. The aforementioned presidential candidate has not received the support of Governor Ortom or any of the G-5 members.

“When the Governor met with the expanded state caucus of the PDP yesterday, January 9, 2023, at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, he made it abundantly clear to them that the national leadership of the PDP has failed to utilize its internal conflict resolution mechanism, which has resulted in the crisis that is rocking the party,” the Governor said. During the meeting, the Governor stated that he would have no choice but to take a position on the issue if the crisis was not resolved before the elections. However, he stated that he would not impose his decision on state party members.
