Peter Obi: Obasanjo punished me – Tinubu

Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president, has revealed that when he was governor of Lagos State, former President Olusegun Obasanjo punished him.

Tinubu clarified that the action taken against the Lagos State Government, not the individual, was the purpose of the decision.

He claimed that Obasanjo’s membership in the opposition party was the reason he made the decision against his administration.

The APC’s flagbearer addressed the crowd at his presidential campaign rally in Benin City, Edo State, in the wake of Obasanjo’s endorsement of Peter Obi, the candidate for president of the Labour Party, LP.

He said that the former president made it hard for him to solve problems with electricity supply while he was governor.

Tinubu also said that the Obasanjo administration at the time had diverted and taken money that was supposed to be used to solve problems with electricity.

Tinubu stated that: Obasanjo and the PDP prevented me from bringing Enron to help the economy of Lagos and solve the electricity problem. They reprimanded Lagosians and me, beginning to deduct our funds.

“I set up Local Governments in Lagos to speed up development and create jobs for our people, but Obasanjo took our allocation and punished us for it.

“That was wickedness, and such a man claimed to have endorsed a candidate for your presidential vote. Does Obasanjo have any suggestions for Nigerian leaders? A man who does not know how to get somewhere cannot lead the way.

“They punished me as governor of Lagos State, not me personally but the entire state of Lagos,” I said.
