Police arrest masquerade in Imo, say it belongs to IPOB and ESN

The Imo State Police Command paraded a masquerade in Owerri, claiming it belongs to the local vigilante group, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

According to police, the masquerade was arrested at a state hideout.

Other items including guns, bullets, telephones and the Biafra flag were also exhibited by police on Friday, February 4, 2022, as items recovered during the raid.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma praised the police for what he described as a good job.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety of life and property in the state.

Police had often accused the ESN of being responsible for attacks in parts of the south-east, particularly Imo state where violence has erupted since the Supreme Court declared Uzodinma as governor, but the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which established the vigilante group, and some statesmen in the region have refuted the claim saying it was false.
