Release Nnamdi Kanu and others before January 23 or face armed conflict, BnL tells FG

The Biafra Nations League (BnL) has issued an ultimatum to the federal government of Nigeria to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and other pro-Biafran detainees, declaring that failure to comply with the demand will compel the group to resort to armed conflict against the government.

Speaking at a briefing after an executive meeting held on Wednesday by BnL leaders in Bakassi Pennisula, Ebuta Akor Takon, the separatist group’s deputy leader said the ultimatum would end by January 23, 2022.

Takon revealed that the BnL was preparing ground its his militia wing, which he described as “self-defense volunteers”, to take severe action against the Nigerian government after the expiration of the ultimatum.

According to OAK METRO, Takon said, “It wouldn’t be easy for Nigeria in 2022 as what happened this year would be minimal compared to next year.

“All volunteers in our self-Defense wing will apply force in carrying out any action that would affect the economy of the Nigerian State, especially at the borders of Cameroon and at sea.”

The deputy leader of BnL, also accused Nigerian and Cameroonian forces of creating another insurgency by attacking unarmed members of the separatist group, warning that further attacks on its members would force the militia wing to launch counterattacks, seize control of borders including large portion of the maritime space in Gulf of Guinea.

“We will claim responsibility for any action we take,” BnL said, urging the Nigerian media not to link its activities to other pro-Biafra groups.
