REVEALED:According to the Appeal Court’s ruling, Nnamdi Kanu needs unconditional release; IPOB clarifies.

POB PRESS RELEASE, January 16, 2023

The recent call by the Governor of Anambra State, Governor Charles Soludo, for the unconditional release of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is welcomed by the global body of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which is led by our able leader, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu.

Despite the fact that the aforementioned request for our leader’s unconditional release comes three months and one day after the Court of Appeal, Abuja judicial division, in its erudite judgment delivered on October 13, 2022, discharged and acquitted the leader of IPOB and all of the remaining 8-Count amended charge preferred against him, and consequently directed for his unconditional release, the landmark judgment also prohibited the Federal Government of Nigeria from further detaining our leader or even presenting him for trial on any

Therefore, it is essential to make it clear that, as per the authority of this judgment, our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU does not currently face any kind of indictment or even charge in any court. Because the Federal Government is currently in violation of this order of superior court of competent Jurisdiction, the question of whether to grant bail or not does not even come into play.

In addition, it should be emphasized that Onyendu, who was released on October 13, 2022, does not require a surety because there is currently no charge against him. We have gone beyond the issue of surety, and every genuine call or demand in the current situation should be firmly directed at urging the Federal Government of Nigeria to immediately comply with the order for Onyendu’s unconditional release issued by its own court.

We also want to remind Governor Soludo and others that the current incarceration of Onyendu is illegal, against the constitution, and a violation of constitutional democracy and the rule of law.

In addition, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu does not have a second case to answer, so there is no need for a surety. Instead, Governor Soludo should focus all of his efforts on convincing Nigeria’s lawless Fulani rulers to follow their own laws.

Furthermore, given that Nigeria’s Janjawead rulers have no regard for the rule of law, we should not be pleading with them to comply with their own court orders calling for Onyendu’s unconditional release. Their obligation to comply with their own court orders is compelling.

The Federal Government is currently in grave disobedience with the orders of its own court, and their appeal to the Supreme Court cannot be used to justify the current illegal solitary confinement of our leader in the DSS.
