Concerns about the safety of businesses and properties owned by South-East traders in Lagos prompted the engagements.

Sanwo-Olu assured the Igbo traders that Lagos would continue to be a melting pot for all Nigerians, allaying their concerns.

He stated that his administration would continue to promote peaceful coexistence and security among all state ethnic nationalities.

“I am here on a visit of solidarity and to express my gratitude for your public endorsement of my humble self, which I believe will be reflected at the polls on Saturday with the most votes cast by members of your community.

“You are not supporting us for anything; Because my team and I have worked tirelessly to improve your well-being, you believe we are deserving of this support.

“Ojo will soon have a brand-new General Hospital that will cater to your requirements. You have also observed the completion of expressways and bridges along this corridor, and we have awarded a rail project that will facilitate the movement of people and goods into Okokomaiko.

“The fact that Lagos is on the path to growth excites me. We can guarantee that we will not only construct the state but also a better nation for ourselves through your cooperation and peaceful coexistence,” the governor stated at the Trade Fair forum.

He reassured the Igbo traders that his government was committed to their prosperity and said that the state had recently given the go-ahead for the Badagry Seaport to be built to help with economic growth and logistics, especially for moving goods.

Sanwo-Olu pledged his administration’s commitment to the safety and security of Lagos’ non-indigenous residents and urged Igbo traders not to believe the scaremongers who said they would be attacked because of their choices for president.

We will continue to collaborate with your leadership to improve cooperation and identify areas for improvement in order to promote peace and stability. We will not be hostile toward any non-indigenous community.
