The Continued Persecution Of Nnamdi Kanu And How Nigeria Government Is Invariably Nurturing A Volcano

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was kidnapped in Kenya, tortured, extraordinarily transferred to Nigeria, and arraigned in court on June 29, 2021, for frivolous charges of treasonable felony and terrorism, to which the appellant (Kanu) pleaded not guilty. The Nigerian government is invariably nurturing a volcano. On October 13, 2022, following Kanu’s appeal, a competent Abuja Appellate Court acquitted the IPOB Leader of all charges and prohibited any further Nigerian court trial of the case. This is because Kanu’s illegal arrest and extradition process means that the Nigerian judiciary does not have the authority to try him. However, the government of Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, disagreed with the verdict and stated that Kanu had only been discharged, not cleared.Because of this, they have continued to illegally detain the IPOB leader in the detention facility of the Department of State Services (DSS), which is essentially a dungeon.
The United Nations Working Group and prominent individuals have pleaded with the Nigerian President to free Nnamdi Kanu, but their requests have been ignored.
The following are examples of personalities and institutions:As his final wish, late Elder Dunu Mbazulike Amaechi, the Aviation Minister of the Nigeria First Republic, pleaded with the President to release Kanu for his services and devotion to Nigeria; The man, who was then 94 years old, said he could kneel if it would make Buhari accept his last wish.Yet, that solicitation was not allowed before he dead on November 1, 2022.May his delicate soul find happiness in the hereafter!Others include:Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Chukwuemeka Dim Ojukwu, the first leader and head of state of Biafra, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, leader of the “MASSOB” movement for the realization of the sovereign state of Biafra, and Kanayo O. Kanayo, a veteran of Nollywood, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to free Nnamdi Kanu asHowever, the Nigerian president ignored all of the preceding.
Because Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s demands for a referendum are legitimate under the United Nations charters, which Nigeria is a signatory to, members of the European Parliament and the United Nations working group on arbitrary determination have requested that the Nigerian government release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and engage him in a political discussion.
Jarvis Johnson, a member of the Texas House of Representatives from District 139, recently requested that the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, force President Muhammadu Buhari to comply with a court order and unconditionally release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.Conscientious individuals have been asking pertinent questions like, “has Nigeria irredeemably degenerated into a lawless entity?” as a result of the government of Nigeria’s outright refusal to comply with court orders and release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.Is Nigeria still adhering to the tenets of modern democracy that align the distribution of power between the executive and legislative branches of the government without fear of executive retaliation?or on the other hand Is this simply aspect of the long existing scorn caused against the Igbos and Biafrans? The disrespect that the Nigerian government showed these individuals and institutions demonstrates how arrogant and careless the tribal bigots in Nigeria’s political corridor are. They treat Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Biafrans, and other indigenous Nigerians with contempt and disregard because of their feudalistic mindset. As a result, everyone in Nigeria and around the world must unite and defeat this band of scum.
It’s important for Buhari and his family to know that respect is earned in return. They should not act like they have too much power and ignore the sincere pleas of those individuals and the constituted authorities for peace and justice.
IPOB is a nonviolent self-determination movement that believes in a democratic, internationally recognized process (referendum) to decide what will happen to Biafrans who have been illegally detained by the British since 1914. However, the fact that Nnamdi Kanu is still being illegally persecuted could change the status of the preceding principle. It’s possible that the movement’s patience will go beyond its elastic limits and return to anarchy.
If they continue to hold the IPOB leader, the government of Nigeria is knowingly encouraging a volcano that could erupt and destroy the already crippling entity. The main choice left for Nigerian President Buhari is to notice to the voice of reason, discharge Mazi Nnamdi Kanu genuinely and draw in IPOB in an exchange to examine the eventual fate of the association.
