Tinubu demands the elimination of subsidies, and marketers plan to charge N148 per liter.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited intends to enter into a contract with independent oil marketers to guarantee a N148/liter ex-depot price for gasoline.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria’s National Controller, Operations, Mike Osatuyi, told The PUNCH on Thursday that IPMAN was currently holding a series of meetings with Hubb Stockman, the new Managing Director of NNPCL Retail, who promised to directly supply IPMAN members with products.

This came as Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, stated on Thursday that the scheme must be stopped regardless of how long people protest against the removal of a subsidy for Premium Motor Spirit, also known as gasoline.

Osatuyi stated, “They (NNPCL) have now put IPMAN under him (Stockman) directly, and he’s a good guy,” regarding the agreement with NNPCL. Something positive will result from the series of meetings we have been having with him, most likely by January.

We won’t have to go through the depots to get products because we will get them directly from NNPCL. He is white, and you are aware that white people do not engage in politics. Products’ prices will fall as a result. However, our request is once more for consistent product delivery to us, not one-time events.

The Director, IPMAN Satellite Stop, Associated Akinrinade, had told The PUNCH, on Wednesday, that private terminal proprietors continued to increment costs, as petroleum was presently offered to them above N200/liter.

The PUNCH discovered that major marketers offered gasoline at a price of N170 per liter, while IPMAN offered gasoline at approximately N250 per liter, depending on the location.

On Thursday, the lines for gas grew longer in Lagos but shorter in some parts of Abuja.

Tinubu on subsidies: The APC presidential candidate said on Thursday that the scheme must be stopped regardless of how long people protest against the removal of PMS subsidies.

Tinubu, who talked at the business lunch get-together with entrepreneurs named “Business Forward”, at the Wings, Victoria Island, Lagos, demanded that Nigeria wouldn’t keep on financing fuel utilization in adjoining nations.

Tunde Rahman of Tinubu Media Office released a statement in which he was quoted as saying, “How can we be subsidizing Cameroon, Niger, and Benin Republic’s fuel consumption?” We will end subsidy no matter how long you protest.

The presidential hopeful stated, “First and foremost, the primary responsibility of government is to protect the lives, properties, and prosperity of its citizens,” when discussing security.

“Fixing the difficult security situation I inherited was the first thing on my list as Governor of Lagos. We were able to begin the economic reforms that eventually resulted in the vibrant and active megacity of today only after we secured the state and improved its reputation.

I pledge to protect Nigerians from violence and the threat of violence. Banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping have no place in my ideal society. When we take office, we will begin putting a number of measures into action.

He stated that his administration would establish specialist anti-terrorist battalions with integrated special forces units and increase the number of our military and non-military security forces.

Tinubu stated, “Our critical national infrastructure protection plan will deploy technology for aerial and ground surveillance to survey the most dangerous areas and secure our country’s vital national infrastructure and installations.”

He went on to say, “We shall acquire and upgrade our troops’ tactical communications and mobility.” We must also pay more attention to the care and well-being of our security forces and military personnel, who risk their lives to keep us safe.

“In aggregate, our goal is to have the option to outsmart, outmaneuver and defeat the psychological oppressors and criminal gatherings. They want to destroy our good, democratic society. We will triumph over their evil one. Using the RRS Scheme, we carried it out in Lagos. We can repeat the feat for Nigeria.
